Sustainable Construction with Concrete?

Time

Location Architekturzentrum Wien - Podium
Museumsplatz 1

Concrete is one of the most widely used building materials worldwide – and at the same time responsible for around 9% of global CO₂ emissions. Where is the use of concrete still sensible or unavoidable, and how can its ecological footprint be improved?

The symposium “Sustainable Construction with Concrete?” brings together experts from research, planning and architecture to discuss new approaches to working with concrete.

Martina Maier from Snøhetta Studio Innsbruck will contribute with a lecture on “Transformation with Concrete” featuring Snøhetta projects such as the Oxy building in Brussels and Pirelli 35 in Milan. In her talk, she will focus on how existing buildings can be reimagined, reactivated and reused.
