Golden State Warriors Sports and Entertainment Complex & Waterfront Park
A concept design for Piers 30-32
2012—2014
Intro
The Golden State Warriors Sports and Entertainment Complex's design redevelops the existing Piers 30–32 on the San Francisco waterfront, near the Bay Bridge. The arena and landscape masterplan redevelop the paved piers into 8 acres of active public waterfront space along the bay. The architecture will allow visitors to see inside the Golden State Warriors practice facility and the arena during games and performances.
Technical details
Snøhetta's design proposes a 125-foot tall arena and concert venue wrapped in glass and slit along the side to allow for an outdoor concourse ramp connecting the arena to the surrounding public space.
Pedestrians approach the arena from a large plaza along the bay on the southwest edge of the rebuilt piers. Terraced steps and ramps rise to a second plaza inside the site, with shops on the west and the arena concourse on the east. There is a strong interest in connections to the entire Bay area and creating a venue that’s accessible to the public in a multitude of ways.
Unique glass window design on eastern side of arena will allow fans to view the Bay Bridge from their seats inside the arena during games or events.
