Melbourne

Studio Melbourne is located at 27 Niagara Lane right in the heart of Melbourne’s central business district. We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our Naarm (Melbourne) studio stands.

Studio Melbourne is the heart of our operations across the Australasian region as Snøhetta Australasia. Snøhetta was first established in the region with a studio in Adelaide in 2016, where our first completed project was Pridham Hall for University of South Australia with design partner JPE and JamFactory. The Adelaide studio has now been consolidated into our Melbourne studio.

Within the Melbourne studio, we represent the disciplines of Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Art and Design. Some of our current projects include:

  • Harbourside – a mixed use residential, commercial and public offering on Tumbalong Bay, Sydney Harbour in partnership with Hassell.
  • The New Performing Arts Venue, for Queensland Performing Arts Centre, in Meanjin, Queensland in partnership with Blight Rayner.
  • The Tea House - an adaptive reuse project of a heritage building in Naarm, Melbourne in partnership with Blight Rayner.

Our home is a three-story building and one of four in a row constructed in 1887 and designed by architect George De Lacy Evans. Once a warehouse, this building is of historical and architectural significance and is a rare surviving example of warehouse buildings once typical in the city. This significant cobble-stoned laneway is located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. It is surrounded by the bustling café and restaurant scene Melbourne is known for, and a stone’s throw from significant galleries and cultural icons.

We acknowledge and pay respect to Traditional Custodians of the lands throughout Australia on which we live, work and practice. We pay our respects to Elders and Ancestors of these lands and acknowledge that their sovereignty has never been ceded.
